Prestwick Named Golf Course of the Year

Avon's Prestwick Country Club was named 2014 Indiana Golf Course of the Year by the National Golf Course Owners Association. Prestwick was built in 1974. It was purchased by Ben Weaver in 2007. Mr. Weaver is a Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) Pro and has redesigned all greenside bunkers with new drainage and sand, reseeded with environmentally friendly bent grass and replaced irrigation systems. He also established a sod farm to expedite course repairs.

The golf course was the site for the Indiana High School Golf Championships prior to its current location. It is the only private Country Club in Hendricks County and is home to the Avon High School Golf teams. Stanford golfer Patrick Rodgers, who is ranked third in the world for amateur golfers, golfed at Prestwick for Avon High School.
